Professional Standards and Competence

GIDAFS’s governing framework authorizes the development of professional standards and certification programs in finance, auditing, compliance, financial control, and regulation. Their purpose is to support professional competence, ethical practice, and the use of international knowledge.

What Certification Can Cover

A certification program may assess knowledge, skills, and professional competence within a defined subject area. Its scope must be understood through the specific requirements of that program.

The Institute’s framework also permits certificates of program completion. Completing a course and earning a professional certification are distinct outcomes.

Program Requirements

Please request the requirements for any program you are considering, including eligibility, the competence assessed, assessment methods, fees, and any continuing obligations. The name of a credential alone does not establish its scope or recognition.

Professional Certification and Licensure

GIDAFS certification programs are not government licenses and do not replace licenses or professional certifications required by law in the relevant jurisdiction. A GIDAFS credential does not by itself authorize a person to perform regulated professional services.

Learning and Preparation

Educational programs may support the development of knowledge relevant to a certification subject. Any relationship between a course and a certification assessment depends on the rules of the particular program.
